    [Red Cross Archives series reference: V30] This series comprises two volumes containing details of those enrolled with Red Cross Voluntary Aid Detachments and available for work at military, civilian and temporary hospitals as well as convalescent homes around Melbourne and surrounding districts from 1915 to 1919. Established in 1915 Voluntary Aid Detachments (VAD) were members of the Australian Red Cross and the Order of St. John Members who received both first aid and home nursing instruction from St. John Ambulance Association.
