A once-only candidate in an unwinnable seat of Redfern in 1959 for the Liberal Party. Mary Jane Beckett was Executive Secretary of Montefiore Home in Hunters Hill.
Details
Mary Beckett migrated to Australia c. 1952 with her parents and two siblings. She joined the Young Liberals in 1952, having previously been a member of the British Young Conservatives, and showed her loyalty to the party by standing for election in a very safe ALP seat.
