Summary

Marie Mathew is a long term community activist and contributor. She was a One Nation candidate in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for Clarence in 1999 and in the House of Representatives for Page in 2001. She had more luck at local council level and was an elected member of the Grafton City Council from 2000-2004.

Details

Marie Mathew is a well known figure in the Grafton area. She received the award of OAM in the Queen's Birthday honours list in 2004, for services to local government, and women's hockey. She was a member of the Clarence River Tourism management Association and was the first woman president of the South Grafton Business Association. She has also worked extensively for local charities. She served on term on Grafton City Council but was not elected to the new amalgamated Clarence Valley Council.
