Summary

A Newcastle city councillor, Sonia Hornery stood successfully as a candidate for the Australian Labor Party in the seat of Wallsend in the Legislative Assembly at the New South Wales state election, which was held on 24 March 2007. She was Parliamentary Secretary in the state Labor Government from 2007-2009. On her re-election in 2011, she held the position of Temporary Speaker from 2011-2014. She was re-elected in 2015.
