Summary

A member of the Australian Labor Party, Maggie Hickey was the first woman to lead the Parliamentary party in the Northern Territory in 1996. She served for three terms as the Member for Barkly in the Northern Territory Assembly, from 1990 until 2001. She resigned from the leadership of the party in February 1999 because of her husband's serious illness.
