Summary

Mary Goodacre was the ABC Rural Woman of the Year for the Northern Territory in 1997. She was the first female appointee to the position of Regional Director of the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries (DPIF) at Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory.

As Regional Director Mary was responsible for liaising with staff from other disciplines and regions in the investigation of issues affecting the Barkly pastoral industry. Mary co-ordinated research, extension and regulatory activities in the Tennant Creek and Gulf regions.
