Dr Watchirs is the Public Advocate of the Australian Capital Territory and the Australian Capital Territory Human Rights & Discrimination Commissioner. In 2010 she was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for service to the advancement of human rights particularly as the Human Rights and Discrimination Commissioner of the Australian Capital Territory.
