Summary

A member of the Australian Labor Party, Mary Porter was elected to the Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory representing Ginninderra in October 2004. She was re-elected in 2008 and 2012. She held the position of Deputy Speaker 2008 to 2016. Before her entry into Parliament she was awarded the Member of the Order of Australia in 2003 for service to the community and the Centenary medal in 2001 for voluntary and paid service with a number of not-for profit organisations.
