Summary
Rosemary Clark and her husband, Robert, run Levuka a property in the Upper Clarence region of New South Wales that has been in the Clark family since 1908. A working cattle property run on sustainable farming principles, Levuka is also an example of applied ingenuity. Robert and Rosemary bought the property from Robert’s father in 1990 and landed right in the middle of a drought which created extreme economic pressure. The Clarks decided in 1995 to develop a nature based tourism venture using the old logging tracks and the natural beauty of the area. Since then, Levuka has developed a reputation for being one of the best kept secrets on the nature tourism trail.
Rosemary was regional winner of the Rural Woman of the Year Award for the North Coast (NSW) region in 1997, on the back of her impressive efforts to lobby for welfare assistance for drought stricken families in the region. She was also instrumental in implementing Landcare programs in the Upper Clarence region.
