Details
Agnes Bannon was the mother of two sons and two daughters. She lived most of her life in the Strathfield/Burwood area, and had taught music there for many years when she first ran for election in 1969. She campaigned by inviting people to “information afternoons” at her home, which consisted of afternoon tea and a discussion of policy. She also door-knocked extensively in the Strathfield area. She was strongly in favour of state aid.
In 1972 the Women’s Electoral Lobby ranked her responses to their questions as the second lowest of the nine candidates standing.
