Summary
Marina Carman is the senior project officer (international and policy) at the Australasian Society for HIV Medicine. ASHM provides training and technical advice to support healthcare workers implementing HIV treatment and care in the Asia Pacific region.
Details
Marina has a background in student activism, having organised the 1998 schools’ walkout against racism, and serving as Vice President of the University of Sydney Student Representative Council in 1998. She ran as a Democratic Socialist candidate in the New South Wales Senate in 1998, for Port Jackson in 1999 and in the House of Representatives for Kingsford Smith in 2001. She has studied and taught international relations and political economy, and been involved in community education programs in South Africa, Indonesia and Mauritius.
