Alice Main worked at the Smith of the Dunesk Mission nursing service at Oodnadatta, South Australia, for more than two years between 1907 and 1909.The Smith of Dunesk Mission was an inter-denominational organisation set up mainly to convert Aboriginal people to Christianity. The fund was named after Mrs Henrietta Smith of Dunesk, Scotland, who had given the Free Church of Scotland an endowment for its South Australian work.
