Summary
Catherine Martin won two Oscars for costume design and art direction (Moulin Rouge) at the 2002 Academy Awards. At the 2001 Australian Film Institute (AFI) Awards she was the winner of the ‘GMD AFI Award for Best Production Design’ and joint winner of ‘The Kirketon AFI Award for Best Costume Design.’

Martin worked in costume design at the Stables Theatre in Sydney’s Kings Cross before completing her Diploma of Design at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 1998.
At NIDA Martin met her husband, film director Mark Anthony (Baz) Luhrmann, and the pair were married on 26 January 1997.
Martin’s costume/production credits include: La Boheme, Strictly Ballroom, Romeo & Juliet (for which she was nominated for an Academy Award) and Moulin Rouge.
