O’Sullivan, Gail
- Occupation Educator, Farmer, Technical adviser
Summary
Gail O’Sullivan was nominated for the 1997 A.B.C. Rural Woman of the Year Award, for the North Queensland district of Queensland.
Gail was a home tutor working for the Charters Towers Distance Education unit when she was first introduced to electronic mail. She quickly saw the benefits of this for rural women and their families on remote properties and small towns and encouraged them to use email, and provided training and support for them to do so. Her hard work saw the fall out of computers and modems into schools in isolated areas in her district, a very important achievement indeed.
As well as being an active member of many rural organisations, Gail is also a partner in two family beef properties, and is involved in twelve family properties in Central and North Queensland.
