(1991 – )UN Women National Committee Australia (formerly the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) Australia Inc.) was established in 1991. The committee exists to raise funds for, and awareness of, UN Women’s work in the Pacific and around the world.
Brett, Lily
(1946 – )Author, Novelist, Poet
Lily Brett’s family migrated to Melbourne in 1948 after her parents, Max and Rose, survived the Holocaust. During the 1960s Lily wrote for the rock magazine Go-Set and in 1989 she moved to New York.
Lily has published seven novels, eight volumes of poetry and four collections of essays. She has won numerous awards for her work, including the Victorian Premier’s Award for Poetry in 1987 for The Auschwitz poems (1986).
Crawford, Margaret Elizabeth

Margaret Crawford was interested in the position and working conditions of women in the Commonwealth Public Service and was involved in their equal pay campaign.
Margaret was the secretary, and later convenor, of the Women Graduates’ Committee of the Professional Officers Association and from 1951 until 1964 she was also a member of the Canberra Branch Equal Pay Sub-Committee of the Professional Officers’ Association.
