Leneen Forde was born in Ottawa, Canada in 1935 and came to Australia in 1954. She was Governor of Queensland from 1992 to 1997, making her the state's first female governor. Following her retirement she chaired an inquiry into the abuse of children in state care. In 2000, she became Chancellor of Griffith University.
