Stella Young was born in Stawell in Western Victoria in the late 1980s. Born with osteogenesis imperfecta she has used a wheelchair for most of her life. Young studied journalism at Deakin University and Education at the University of Melbourne. She has been a member of the Victorian Disability Advisory Council and Women With Disabilities and worked with the Youth Disability Advocacy Service to lobby for improved access to music venues and events in the City of Melbourne. She is the editor of the website Ramp Up, a forum for news and discussion about disability issues.
