Social Life
Family picnics, dances and theatre sustained many women. Shops quickly catered to the influx of families and services for women were quickly provided. Women supported churches, worked for charitable trusts and raised money in the community.
Kalgoorlie and Boulder councils amalgamated in 1989. Boulder had always been regarded as where miners and their families lived, while Kalgoorlie had more prosperous residents. To visit the shops in Kalgoorlie was often a big trip for the women of Boulder.
